Abby
6yr old spayed female
F️rom Abby's current owners:
Smartest dog I’ve ever met, even trainers have mentioned her intelligence and desire to work her mind
️Truly a sport dog but no professional training or hunting experience
️Adoring, a lover of blankets, insanely smart (if you didn’t already catch that), the most athletic and fast dog many people have ever seen
️Huge desire to work her mind and please her person. Her nose is amazing. Her drive is incredible. She wants to work and please.
️Knows many commands: sit, down, walk on, spin, touch, leave it, wait, stay, kennel, and many others. Picks up any skill fast. She is kennel trained but very anxious.
Abby would thrive in an environment with someone who is:
Active
Patient
Calm
Household with older kids or no kids
Looking for a dog to be active with, love on, cuddle, and DO life with
Some History:
Not our first GSP yet surprised us with much unexpected personality that we worked through and work with.
We got Abby right before Covid. She was excelling in her puppy obedience class and then the world shut down and her anxiety increased with not being exposed to normal sounds and interactions in the first several months of her life.
She went to a dog daycare off and on until recently so she is able to interact with others but she is very nervous at first and vocalizes it with incessant barking. I refer to her as an extroverted introvert - likes people and animals but needs space to take in from afar first.
She went through an extensive board and train for three months about 2/3 years ago which significantly helped her and us know how to better work with her needs around anxiety. This was a huge help and much growth occurred. The trainer is very familiar with the breed and even stated how she processes everything through anxiety - whether it be good or bad excitement, it’s all anxiety to her and she’s highly sensitive and easy to overstimulate. You should hear her excited screaming when it’s breakfast and dinner time…
She has been raised around a cat - they are not friends but they aren’t enemies. She has also been raised with our other GSP and she is very attached and desires touch and love from her people.
Could you give Abby what she needs to thrive?
