Baron-on medical hold

Baron is a sweet approximate 5yr old male GSP looking for his forever home. He was found running on the desert and his body shows it, he was 35lbs when he came into rescue, he is now 46lbs and at a healthy weight!

He is being treated for KCS and ophthalmologist in Salt Lake City feels he will have a good recovery and be a normal bird dog. This can be caused by trauma, or other idiopathic causes. We proceeded with a brain MRI which showed a inner ear infection migrating up to his crainal vault that is causing pressure on the trigeminal nerve which is why he is having the KCS symptoms and why he has facial muscle atrophy on the left. It is unknown even if we can fully clear the infection and how permanent some of his symptoms are, only time will determine this.

One of his foster's says he's a good size because he's "scoopable."  smallish so she can pick him up.  Also, he's not a super fast runner - prefers to trot rather than gallop. He will sometimes walk ahead of you, but a lot of the time just wants to walk right by you.  He sleeps in the crate, all night, no problem and we leave him there during the day if we go out.  We are still working on his cues that he needs to go out to potty, but he knows how to use a dog door! He is working on his basic obedience and he's got SIT, STAY at mealtime and when there's a car on the road.  He will stop when told NO.  COME only works when he sees us, so we are working on that, but he is doing very well with his ecollar recall training! One of my foster ladies took me to Murdock's and tried to introduce me to the cat there who was on it's perch, and I didn't care about it.

At the park, he's interested in other dogs but no incidents when the sniff butt greeting takes place! He tends to just co-exist and move on.

He is currently fostered in SLC and will be on a medical hold for the next month to determine what next steps are for his inner ear infection. If you would like to be on the waitlist for this gentleman, please submit an application.
