Bear-Adopted

Bear is a 7-year-old neutered male German Shorthaired Pointer. He is a gentle and sweet-natured dog who was neglected for years, left outside and alone. Bear is quite large and is currently working on losing weight. He enjoys running and playing with other dogs. Although he hasn't been around children yet, we believe he will do well with kids as he appears to be a gentle giant. He was introduced to cats and was interested but redirectable and we feel he could co-exist with a cat. Bear walks well on a leash and settles comfortably in a kennel. He seems to enjoy car rides and travels well in both a hammock and a kennel. He will need a follow-up vet visit to ensure his diet and exercise plan is effective, and we expect it will be very beneficial for him as he has already lost 10 pounds! Unfortunately, Bear has hypothyroidism and will require lifelong medication, but fortunately, it's an inexpensive and easily managed condition that won't hinder his adventures.
