Skylar

7yr old spayed female

Miss Skylar is a 7yr old spayed female in search of a new family to call her own. Her current family is looking to rehome her due to 2 nipping episodes with their 2 year old child. Neither required medical intervention. She is currently located in Michigan and willing to drive to help find her forever home. She has had a full vet check, exam and labs and is a healthy gal looking for her final forever home!

From her family: "We never thought we would have to write something like this, and honestly, it’s breaking our heart.

We are looking to rehome our 7-year-old female German Shorthaired Pointer ( Skylar).

She has been such a huge part of our lives—loyal, loving, goofy, and truly one of the best companions we could have ever asked for. She loves her people deeply, thrives on connection, and is incredible in the field—an amazing bird hunter with so much drive and talent.

This decision is coming from a place of love, but also responsibility. She has had two superficial bite incidents involving children, and as much as it hurts to say, we can no longer keep her in a home with kids. Our priority has to be safety, for everyone—including her.

Please know this: she is not a bad dog. She is wonderful with adults and has so much love to give. She just needs the right environment—Her ideal home would have no kids, or kids old enough to understand boundaries, would take her hunting, in addition to meeting her GSP needs of having structure, exercise, and a calm, predictable environment

We are completely heartbroken. This is not something we ever wanted or took lightly. We just want to do right by her and find her a safe place where she can be happy and understood.

She’s never lived with other dogs, but she does fine when she has been around them out and about and out hunting. Could she be the right dog for you???
