Fritz is a sweet and lively 2-year-old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, a breed known for its intelligence, versatility, and affectionate nature. He is particularly food and play driven, which makes him an enthusiastic companion, always eager to engage in activities that involve treats or toys. His playful demeanor, however, comes with a tendency to play on the rougher side, which is something to consider, especially in households with young children. For instance, games like tug-of-war can become overly intense and may not be suitable for little kids.

Fritz thrives in an environment where someone is present most of the time, as he exhibits signs of separation anxiety. This has become evident when his humans are both at work; upon our return home, we often find that he has resorted to chewing on his own tail, particularly the hair at the back, as a coping mechanism for his distress, but could be due to not getting enough exercise. This behavior highlights his need for companionship and reassurance, making it crucial for him to be in a home where he can receive ample attention, interaction and exercise.

One of Fritz's favorite activities is free running in open fields, where he can stretch his legs and explore to his heart's content. When he is out in a spacious area, his recall is generally good, especially when using an ecollar, which helps reinforce his return. However, without the collar, his response to commands can vary greatly depending on how stimulated he is at the moment. In situations where he is overly excited, he may take longer to come back when called, demonstrating the need for consistent training and reinforcement. Fritz has learned several commands, including sit, stay, lay down, heel, fetch, and whoa, showcasing his intelligence and willingness to learn. He loves the water and will retrieve items out of the water. He is house and kennel trained.
