Morgan is a sweet and affectionate 4-year-old neutered German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) who has had a challenging start to life. For the entirety of his young existence, he found himself confined to an outdoor kennel, where he endured the harsh elements and limited social interaction. Eventually, his previous owner made the compassionate decision to surrender him to a neighbor who happens to be a professional dog trainer specializing in detection work. Recognizing Morgan's potential and the need for a better life, this trainer reached out to a rescue organization that could provide him with the care and love he desperately needed.
Upon his arrival at the rescue, Morgan was in a state of distress and malnourishment. His condition was concerning as he presented with multiple sores and wounds, indicative of neglect and lack of proper care. The rescue team ensured he received immediate medical attention, which included neutering and vaccinations to safeguard his health. However, during his follow-up examinations, it was discovered that he was suffering from moderate ear infections and had some allergies that required treatment. The rescue team administered several rounds of antibiotic treatments for his ears, but unfortunately, Morgan later developed a urinary tract infection (UTI), adding to the list of challenges he faced. His journey has been a testament to resilience, as he has endured much for such a young dog. He is all healed up from his ear infections, UTI and is at a healthy weight and would love to find his forever home!
Morgan has a heart full of love for both adults and children alike. He has a charming way of approaching people, often running up to them with a curious sniff, eagerly hoping they will engage him in a game of fetch. His gentle demeanor is one of his most endearing qualities; he does not jump on anyone and is incredibly respectful when you ask him to move aside. Morgan has been around infants as well as children up to the age of nine, showcasing his ability to interact positively with youngsters. His curiosity drives him to meet new friends, and he thrives on social interactions, always eager to make connections. Morgan's desire to be close to his human companions is palpable. He is friendly, yet he approaches new people with a hint of caution, taking his time to assess the situation. However, once he warms up to you, he transforms into a loyal 'velcro dog,' always wanting to stay by your side. His love for cuddling is evident, and he will often nestle next to you, seeking comfort and companionship. Whether I am busy doing chores around the house or simply relaxing, Morgan is always right there, following my every move with gentle curiosity. He is a remarkably gentle boy who listens attentively to commands. Morgan has a reliable way of communicating his needs, such as letting me know when he needs to go outside to relieve himself, which has resulted in no accidents in the house. He is also well-behaved when it comes to furniture; he only jumps on it when given the specific command to do so. Morgan has mastered basic commands like sit, stay, and come, and his food motivation greatly aids in his ongoing training, making him a quick learner and an eager participant in his journey toward becoming the best companion he can be. He was adopted by a lovely family that had another GSP, lots of room to run and water to play in!
