Summit is a delightful 2-year-old neutered German Wirehaired Pointer (GWP) who is currently seeking what we believe could be his third forever home. This transition is occurring entirely due to circumstances beyond his control, highlighting the importance of finding him a loving and understanding family. His current owners are facing a significant life change, as they are preparing to move across the country into an apartment that unfortunately does not provide the space or environment necessary to meet Summit's active lifestyle requirements. They have made the difficult decision to find him a new home before their relocation occurs in the next couple of weeks, emphasizing their desire for Summit to find a place where he can thrive and be happy.

Summit is truly an adventurer at heart. He thrives on exploration and enjoys taking long walks, whether it be alongside his human companions or on solo expeditions. His adventurous spirit is matched by his remarkable sense of direction; he always knows where home is and will return once his curiosity has been fully satisfied. This innate ability to navigate his surroundings speaks to his intelligence and independence. Additionally, Summit is both kennel trained and housebroken, making him a well-mannered companion. He has a solid grasp of basic commands, including sit, speak, shake, and a unique command we affectionately call “whisper,” which is a gentle reminder for him to tone down his vocalizations, as he can sometimes express himself a bit too loudly. Currently, we are focusing on teaching him the down and stay commands, and he has shown great promise in learning. Summit is responsive to tone, especially when using his e-collar for redirection, which is particularly useful during his adventurous escapades that may extend longer than anticipated. Furthermore, he has begun training with a pheasant wing and scent, revealing his natural instincts as a bird dog, which is an exciting aspect of his personality. Summit is eager to learn and engage in new activities, making him a wonderful candidate for an active family who can provide him with the love, attention, and exercise he deserves, and he got just that with a rancher in Montana, excited to show him the ranching life ropes and also get to do some hunting!
