Sasha
6yr old spayed female
Sasha is a 6 year old, spayed female German Shorthaired Pointer. She is full of energy, very friendly and gentle towards humans. Sasha has spent her life thus far in an indoor/outdoor kennel. Although she had other dogs in kennels next to her, she did not socialize with them and has tendencies towards being dominant with other dogs as this is unfamiliar territory for her. Shasha's owner was an elderly man who could no longer care for her. She had to live, sleep, eat and mess in her kennel. She would benefit immensely from basic canine care
such as baths, clean food and water bowls, a soft clean bed and lots of pets and reassurance.
It is not known what happened to her teeth, but she has worn down her teeth a considerable amount with the lower front teeth being almost gone. Her teeth are very heavily covered in plaque and her wrists and elbows are calloused from long hours laying on concrete. Sasha does not want to be kenneled, she is difficult to
kennel and will not go in willingly as she would rather go do something fun and exciting instead. She seemed to respond to "here", or "come here Sasha" but did not respond to sit or stay. Sasha did not mind putting on a collar and clipping on a leash but showed signs of not being leash walked much in her life. She was eager to please, full of energy and very curious about her surroundings.
She was interested in toys but didn't appear to know what to do with them. The same goes for a blanket, it seemed as if she had never experienced a soft blanket and did not lay on it and was not given one in her kennel at the shelter. She showed no signs of fear around strange noises or unfamiliar surfaces.
Sasha would benefit from love, compassion and the opportunity to have a real dog life where she could experience the outdoors, have a healthy exercise outlet for her energy, clean living conditions, supervised play time with soft toys, basic training and a very slow and proper introduction to other dogs.
