cisco

Cisco is an approx 4yr old male GSP mix looking for his forever home.

His initial family was not able to care for him or give him the exercise he needed. He was also not a big fan of their young kids, and thought the kids were too stressful for him, so they surrendered him to the shelter. He was brought into the rescue as he was decompensating in the shelter, shutting down and loosing weight and was going to be euthanized.

Some things that his foster family wants you to know:

- fully crate trained and house trained

- knows sit, stay, down, place and several tricks. Learns tricks very quickly and loves to use his nose to find snacks

- amazing with outdoor sports, will run with you next to a bike or chase you on a mountain bike, clears jumps like a gazelle and ignores other dogs and people

- walks very nicely on a leash

- big snuggler, loves to curl up next to you

- does great with visitors and strangers outside and but prefers to approach them on his own terms

- does great with visitors in the house but prefers to be ignored by them and approach on his own terms (better when they have treats)

- ok with some dogs when introduced slowly and properly. prefers confident well mannered dogs who respect his space

He does like to follow his nose, he likes the water we were told by the shelter,  he loves to snow!likes car rides, and is doing well with his off leash training!

Noah

Noah is a very sweet approx 12mnt old black and white male GSP. He was part of a group of 3 GSPs that were dumped in a field in South UT.

He was eventually trapped and taken to the NUVAS shelter. Unfortunately there were not any fosters available so we couldn't pull him right away. He sat in the shelter for a month with no interest which is just astonishing as he is the sweetest boy, so eager to please.

We are still learning lots about him, but so far he knows sit and is working on down. He is also working on his off leash recall so he can run with the rest of the rescue pack on our hikes off leash.
He knows kennel. He loves food, and is all tail wags with other dogs. He has been around some livestock, and doesn't really seem to care about chickens, so we are unsure he would make a good bird hunter or not as his prey drive really doesn't seem to be there.
He LOVES to snuggle and would make a great active pawtner / addition to a family. He is pretty gentle so would do okay with kids.

He is up to date on shots and microchipped.

He will need to be neutered prior to adoption or as part of the adoption agreement.

APPLY NOW TO BE ON THE WAITLIST FOR HIS HANDSOME BOY.

If you think you could be a great fit for him, please go to our website and under forms is the adoption agreement, please review this, if this looks okay please proceed with the adoption application. Please fill this out and email it back to us and we will respond usually within 24-48 hours.

Mia

Mia is approx 10mnt old female English Pointer mix our rescue lady thinks.

She was dropped off with a very pregnant GSP female, so the shelter assumed she was a GSP mix, but her coloring is more aligned with an EP.

She walks like a dream on leash, she is still healing from her spay. She is working on kenneling and is doing well with this. She seems to love her older foster GSP brother and loves to lay on the bed with him/snuggle him. My rescue lady thinks I would be happiest with another dog! She likes car rides.

We are still finding out a lot about Mia. Please apply now to be on the waitlist for this sweet girl. She will be in the rescue for approximately 1 month to assess what she needs in her future forever home to thrive.

If you think you could be a great fit for her, please go to our website and under forms is the adoption agreement, please review this, if this looks okay please proceed with the adoption application. Please fill this out and email it back to us and we will respond usually within 24-48 hours.

Roxie

This is Roxie. She will be 2 in April. Currently in Montana

She is looking for her new home or a foster home where someone is home more often than not as she has developed a seizure disorder.  She has been seizure free for 3 weeks now on a new medication combination!

She has some hunting training, but has not been a family dog, as she was primarily an outdoor dog. She lived outside previously, but is now house trained. She knows how to use a dog door now and self-regulates. She sleeps in a crate at night and is in one when no one is home. She is VERY treat motivated and now knows sit and knows to wait her turn when treats are passed out. She’s a pretty low-key sweet girl who has no problem with other dogs. She hasn't played much so she is learning cues from other dogs and when they are done playing. She is a vocal player. She hasn’t been around kids that we know of, other than the high school-aged ones she lived with previously.

She’s still got a lot of puppy in her and will need continued basic obedience training.

Dash

Dash is a sweet 9yr old neutered male looking for his forever home. His human passed away this winter and he is being fostered in McCall, ID.

His foster reports he is great with other dogs, even ones that misbehave, he is very tolerant. He loves his humans an he is your typical velcro GSP. He will kennel, but he enjoys being free roam in the house more. He is not destructive. He is house trained. He is very birdy and probably was hunted over due to where he lived, but cannot confirm this.

Anya

Anya is a 5yr old Pudelpointer looking for her forever home that is less busy than her current one. She is not a big fan of strangers and barks a lot at them. Current family has a 9yr old girl and because of this, they do not feel their daughter can safely have friends over without someone there actively managing Anya.

Currently, when guests arrive, she is kenneled, and then when she calms down, she is brought out on leash, and the guest is given a handful of treats to give her and then she does great with them.

Current family has had her since she was 1, but in her first year of life she unfortunately did not get much socialization. She has come a long way since then with her current family.

No current health issues currently. She had a TPLO surgery in January 2024 on her rear, right knee.  The vet said surgery was great, only a partial tear of her ligament, and she has healed great with no lameness or issues of any kind.   The vet has told the family the dog is probably one of the most athletic and strong dogs she has seen and is always impressed with fitness and muscular structure of the dog.

Anya does what to run, hunt, and "flush" creatures out of all bushes, but she is never far away, and has great recall with a whistle and ecollar.

Anya knows many commands and is extremely smart and eager to please.   If outside, she is a little less food motivated as her hunting instincts take over and if not responding usually just an audible beep on her e-collar will be enough to bring her focus back to me.  She is very sensitive to the e-collar and usually vibrate or beep is enough to get her attention.

She is kennel trained, even to the point that if told to go to her kennel and the door is shut she will open the door and climb inside.  She will also go to her kennel without being asked at times that our daily routine usually will require us to ask her to go to the kennel. (we are getting ready to leave the house for any reason, especially to take our daughter to school)

She was whistle trained when we got her and would stop, turn right/turn left, and recalled all by various blows on the whistle.   We did not keep this training up, but I think 2 quick blows on the whistle would still recall her.

She is muzzle trained, usually we only use the muzzle if going to the vet.

Anya loves car rides and is very relaxed in the car... seems to be her happy place.

She walks on leash with a slip lead in a "figure 8" with a loop around her nose.   With just a slip lead or collar she will pull.

She knows the commands:

Sit, down, go to your bed, go to your kennel, come, heal (she is pretty good at this off leash, it is harder for her on leash for whatever reason?), ok(release), speak, lay on your back, bang (play dead), spin around, stay (this one is tricky for her because of her high energy levels and excitement of being told to do some work), get a toy (she knows different names for different toys), and get a person (she knows the names of the three of us adults and our other dog's name).

APPLY NOW for this sweet girl! This breed do not find themselves in rescue often!!!

If you think you could be a great fit for her, please go to our website and under forms is the adoption agreement, please review this, if this looks okay please proceed with the adoption application. Please fill this out and email it back to us and we will respond usually within 24-48 hours.

Sadie - pending adoption

Sadie was found as a stray in Ellensburg, WA with her sibling. Her approx DOB is 3/23/23.

She was picked up by the shelter, vaccinated and spayed.

She came into rescue on 1/13/24 into a foster to adopt in Olympia, WA. Unfortunately, that foster was diagnosed with cancer shortly after taking her in and she knows she cannot provide for her what she deserves and needs so we are looking for a new foster to adopt. Foster states she has been a true pleasure to have in their home.

She is doing great with her 2 older fur brothers and is learning a lot about co-existing with the cat.  Her current foster home worked a lot with her on this! A new cat will probably need continued work. She has put on some weight and is starting to look stronger as well. Sadie is the perfect GSP in a manageable package. Medium energy, smart, food motivated and easy to train. She's fully housebroken and crate trained. She loves a cuddle with the family.

Personality-Not shy or fearful
Integrated well with other dogs, Takes cues from other dogs well, and moves on, Excited about the world, Lovely with strangers, Not mouthy, Takes direction well if consistent, Loves to run on our fenced four acres, and goes out independently.

If you think you could be a great fit for her, please go to our website and under forms is the adoption agreement, please review this, if this looks okay please proceed with the adoption application. Please fill this out and email it back to us and we will respond usually within 24-48 hours.

Willy is a sweet GWP mix that is approx 8-12mnts old. He was a stray outside of Burley, ID and we were contacted as the shelter was over-crowded and he had not been claimed after his stray hold. He is neutered, now microchipped and will need one more round of shots before being available.

His foster states he is just the sweetest, eager to learn, quick learner, calm in the house, plays great with their 2 male pointers, is kennel trained, and house trained. They are working on some advanced obedience with him. He walks well on leash. He does not seem to be scared of loud noises.

Scout-in foster to adopt

Scout is a sweet 6yr neutered male looking for his forever home.

He is neutered, chipped, and up to date on vaccines. He is purebred and AKC registered.

He weighs 65lb

No health issues except certain foods upset his belly. He does great on Hill science small bites. We only do small bites in a slow feeder because he will inhale it and doesn't really chew his food.

Scout has almost been shot 2 times in the last month for going after the neighbor's chickens.  Previous owners have an electric fence, but it doesn't phase him.

He doesn't like anyone near his face, so small kids are a no-go.

Gunner- is missing

GUNNER IS MISSING- LAST SEEN 50MILES SOUTH OF MALTA TUESDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING!!!

IF YOU ARE IN EASTERN MONTANA WE ARE STILL SEARCHING FOR HIM!

Gunner is a sweet 2.5yr old GSP, neutered in a foster to adopt in Lewistown, MT.

He was surrendered due to his family not being able to give him the time he deserved. They were going to take him to the shelter so the breeder took him back in.

Gunner does have severe kennel anxiety where he will pant and drool. This has improved some since he has been back with the breeder. When left out of the kennel he does not show any destructive behaviors and has done well with all the other dogs in the house and kids. He has never been hunted over, but we are told his father is a master hunter.
