cisco

Cisco is an approx 4yr old male GSP mix looking for his forever home.

His initial family was not able to care for him or give him the exercise he needed. He was also not a big fan of their young kids, and thought the kids were too stressful for him, so they surrendered him to the shelter. He was brought into the rescue as he was decompensating in the shelter, shutting down and loosing weight and was going to be euthanized.

Some things that his foster family wants you to know:

- fully crate trained and house trained

- knows sit, stay, down, place and several tricks. Learns tricks very quickly and loves to use his nose to find snacks

- amazing with outdoor sports, will run with you next to a bike or chase you on a mountain bike, clears jumps like a gazelle and ignores other dogs and people

- walks very nicely on a leash

- big snuggler, loves to curl up next to you

- does great with visitors and strangers outside and but prefers to approach them on his own terms

- does great with visitors in the house but prefers to be ignored by them and approach on his own terms (better when they have treats)

- ok with some dogs when introduced slowly and properly. prefers confident well mannered dogs who respect his space . He is learning how to play with other dogs.

He does like to follow his nose, he likes the water, he loves to snow, likes car rides, and is doing well with his off-leash training!

Anya

Anya is a 5yr old Pudelpointer looking for her forever home that is less busy than her current one. She is not a big fan of strangers and barks a lot at them. Current family has a 9yr old girl and because of this, they do not feel their daughter can safely have friends over without someone there actively managing Anya.

Currently, when guests arrive, she is kenneled, and then when she calms down, she is brought out on leash, and the guest is given a handful of treats to give her and then she does great with them.

Current family has had her since she was 1, but in her first year of life she unfortunately did not get much socialization. She has come a long way since then with her current family.

No current health issues currently. She had a TPLO surgery in January 2024 on her rear, right knee.  The vet said surgery was great, only a partial tear of her ligament, and she has healed great with no lameness or issues of any kind.   The vet has told the family the dog is probably one of the most athletic and strong dogs she has seen and is always impressed with fitness and muscular structure of the dog.

Anya does what to run, hunt, and "flush" creatures out of all bushes, but she is never far away, and has great recall with a whistle and ecollar.

Anya knows many commands and is extremely smart and eager to please.   If outside, she is a little less food motivated as her hunting instincts take over and if not responding usually just an audible beep on her e-collar will be enough to bring her focus back to me.  She is very sensitive to the e-collar and usually vibrate or beep is enough to get her attention.

She is kennel trained, even to the point that if told to go to her kennel and the door is shut she will open the door and climb inside.  She will also go to her kennel without being asked at times that our daily routine usually will require us to ask her to go to the kennel. (we are getting ready to leave the house for any reason, especially to take our daughter to school)

She was whistle trained when we got her and would stop, turn right/turn left, and recalled all by various blows on the whistle.   We did not keep this training up, but I think 2 quick blows on the whistle would still recall her.

She is muzzle trained, usually we only use the muzzle if going to the vet.

Anya loves car rides and is very relaxed in the car... seems to be her happy place.

She walks on leash with a slip lead in a "figure 8" with a loop around her nose.   With just a slip lead or collar she will pull.

She knows the commands:

Sit, down, go to your bed, go to your kennel, come, heal (she is pretty good at this off leash, it is harder for her on leash for whatever reason?), ok(release), speak, lay on your back, bang (play dead), spin around, stay (this one is tricky for her because of her high energy levels and excitement of being told to do some work), get a toy (she knows different names for different toys), and get a person (she knows the names of the three of us adults and our other dog's name).

Roxie

This is Roxie. She will be 2 in April. Currently in Montana

She is looking for her new home or a foster home where someone is home more often than not as she has developed a seizure disorder.  She has been seizure free for 3 weeks now on a new medication combination!

She has some hunting training, but has not been a family dog, as she was primarily an outdoor dog. She lived outside previously, but is now house trained. She knows how to use a dog door now and self-regulates. She sleeps in a crate at night and is in one when no one is home. She is VERY treat motivated and now knows sit and knows to wait her turn when treats are passed out. She’s a pretty low-key sweet girl who has no problem with other dogs. She hasn't played much so she is learning cues from other dogs and when they are done playing. She is a vocal player. She hasn’t been around kids that we know of, other than the high school-aged ones she lived with previously.

She’s still got a lot of puppy in her and will need continued basic obedience training.

SUMMIT

Summit is a sweet approx 5yr old currently fostered in La Grande, OR.

He was found on Summit rd by Mount Summit!
We posted him and contacted all local/surrounding shelters, but no one came to claim him.

He is the easiest going dog in the world and will make someone the best companion. He will thrive in a quite environment with limited people/dogs ideally as he gets overstimulated easily as everything is still so new. He will need someone patient to continue socializing him, especially in new environments. He would love someone that isn't always on the go, but can still enjoy long walks and quiet days.

He was in pretty rough shape when he was first captured. He had severe cuts on his pads and his front pads were bleeding and worn down. He also had mange and ringworm. He is receiving treatment for all of this and his now bearing weight on all his legs and trotting around like a normal GSP. His skin is being treated on all fronts and is improving!

We are still learning lots about him, but so far he knows how to kennel, although he is not a fan of the kennel and has escaped 2 wire kennels at his foster's house. He has been free range with his foster siblings and has done great and has not been destructive, even when no one is home. He does great in the car in the kennel. So thankfully just seems to be kennel anxiety and not separation anxiety. He does great with all the other pointers in the house, the chickens and even the CAT!! He would not make a good hunter, despite his breed. He is house trained and knows how to use a dog door.

He was neutered on 4/26 and had to have 2 teeth extracted due to being broken. He does show some arthritis already so will benefit from being on a joint supplement. He is at a healthy weight and is decompressing fast in foster!

RUBY

Meet Ruby. She is 1.5yrs old and is actually Ellie's Daughter! She was taken into rescue as her owners also did not have a fence and they were keeping her chained up outside, but that didn't stop her from going on her own adventures and her family got tired of paying the pound fee, so they transferred her to the rescue.

She is now in foster in Boise, ID.

This is what Ruby's foster has to say about her:

I think she's a pretty perfect dog. ⁃ House trained, no accidents. Immediately goes potty when let outside ⁃ Crate trained and seems to enjoy her crate. She willingly puts herself in the crate during the day, and will quietly relax in crate while I’m on work calls. (Except for our first night together), she sleeps through the night in crate without a peep! - Breeze to handle at vet, doesn’t seem to have any body sensitivities - Good with other dogs and very neutral on leash (we’ve walked by several houses with barking, lunging dogs through fences, and she has no reaction) - Playful, yet polite with dog greetings (so far have only intro-ed her with my dog and a friend's older, very neutral hound) - Friendly and sweet with people (wants to climb in my lap while I’m working) - Takes treats VERY gently - She does pull on leash, but it’s manageable with a 10 foot leash (so she has plenty of space to sniff), and when necessary, she’s easy to correct - Generally, very well mannered and eager to please. A simple “no” or “off” is all that is needed to correct undesirable behaviors
